Recently, Ten Hag gave an interview with BBC Sport in Los Angeles.
Following their FA Cup victory, Manchester United’s evaluation team conducted a thorough analysis and review of the team’s entire season and discussed Ten Hag’s future. Ultimately, 17 days later, Manchester United confirmed they had extended Ten Hag’s contract.
Ten Hag said, “Being discussed by the evaluation team regarding my future? It feels like something from years ago, I’ve already put it behind me. I’m looking forward, and I know why I am here. I’m here for this project and to win trophies, we want to move forward.”
“I wasn’t worried about receiving a dismissal call at the time because I knew about this project, and we were heading in the right direction. We have already won two trophies, and I was preparing for the new season. That’s what I was doing during that time. Of course, I also took a break. Our management, coaching staff, and player lineup have all seen changes. We are improving and taking the next step into the new season.”
“I’m very grateful for the support from the fans, which makes me very happy. They will always be with us, and they are crucial to us. We have already won two trophies, but our ambition goes beyond just these two titles.”
“I absolutely believe we have the potential to win another trophy. What is most important is that the club wins titles, not achieving my personal goals; we must put the club first. Everyone must be aligned, pursuing greater objectives.”
“The start is always important, but what matters most is the finish. We bounced back in the first season, and we had a successful season, winning many games and reaching two cup finals. We went far in European competition and finished third in the league. The start provides the foundation. If you have a good start, it gives you a foundation that allows you to enter a successful season. But even if you don’t get it, it can still be a successful season, as the season is long, and trophies are usually won in April or May. Of course, we are working towards this goal.”
