The 2024 Paris Olympics are in full swing, and renowned magazine Forbes has surveyed and tallied the gold medal bonuses for some participating teams. Among them, the Hong Kong, China delegation leads globally with a gold medal bonus of up to $768,000.
It is understood that Forbes inquired about their Olympic bonus arrangements with Olympic Committees and relevant departments worldwide, confirming that at least 33 delegations would offer bonuses to gold medal winners. Among these, 15 delegations offer gold medal bonuses exceeding $100,000.
In terms of specific rankings, the Hong Kong, China team leads by a significant margin with a gold medal bonus of up to $768,000 (HK$6 million), placing it at the top of this list. Following closely, Israel, Serbia, and Malaysia have gold medal bonuses over $200,000, but they still lag far behind Hong Kong’s bonus.
As of the fifth competition day, two fencers from Hong Kong, China—Ng Man Hin and Cheung Ka Long—have each won one gold medal. The popular female athlete Ng Man Hin had previously stated her willingness to donate the bonus to charity.
