On July 19, Borussia Dortmund officially announced that they have extended the contract of backup goalkeeper Michael Meyer until 2026.
The 33-year-old Meyer has been with Dortmund since 2022, serving as a reliable substitute to first-choice goalkeeper Kobel. Last season, Meyer stepped in to play eight games when Kobel was injured, and he will also be the goalkeeper for Dortmund’s preseason tour in Asia this year.
Meyer’s previous contract with Dortmund was due to expire in 2025, but with this extension, his contract now runs until 2026.
