On July 16, The Guardian listed potential successors for the next England manager role, including Eddie Howe, Potter, and Tuchel.
The Guardian, when discussing the main candidates, said: “Eddie Howe led Newcastle into the 2023-24 Champions League season. If the Football Association wants to sign Eddie Howe, they would first need to match his salary expectations. Southgate’s annual salary is only £5 million, which is at the lower end of the pay scale in the Premier League system. Potter has been out of work since he was sacked by Chelsea in April 2023; previously, he had been approached by Leicester City. For Potter, he may have always been waiting for a call from the England team. Tuchel left Bayern Munich; as an experienced tactician, he enjoys working and living in the UK.”
Other candidates mentioned by The Guardian include Pochettino, Casley, Gerrard, Lampard, Pochettino, and Klopp, but considers their chances less likely.
