On July 24, according to Fox Sports, the main stadium for the 2032 Brisbane Olympics will only be able to accommodate 40,000 people, making it the smallest main stadium in the Olympics in 104 years.
The main stadium for the 2032 Brisbane Olympics will be the Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre. The Queensland Government, responsible for hosting the event, stated: “We will invest $2.7 billion in upgrading the stadium and improving surrounding facilities.”
In the venue photos released by the media, a permanent roofed stand can be seen, along with temporary seating around other parts of the stadium. It is reported that the stadium will only be able to accommodate 40,000 spectators at the time, and after the removal of the temporary seats post-Olympics, its capacity will reduce to 14,000 spectators.
The rudimentary main stadium has also drawn criticism from US media outlet Fox Sports, who commented: “Is Brisbane really hosting the 2032 Olympics? Have we time-traveled back to the 1932 Olympics?”
The 2032 Brisbane Olympics are scheduled to take place from July 23 to August 8.
