Celtic’s main striker, Kenta Maeda, was substituted due to a knee injury during their 4-1 friendly victory over Chelsea. Although the team initially thought his injury wasn’t serious, it now appears he will miss the first round of the new league season against Kilmarnock.
Celtic manager Rodgers stated during the pre-match press conference for this game: “Due to Kenta Maeda suffering a severe knee contusion in the match against Chelsea, we need to assess his injury. He may not be able to play this weekend. We will give him some time and see how his recovery progresses.”
