The German Football Association officially announced that Toni Kroos has been named the 2024 German Footballer of the Year, and Xabi Alonso is the best coach.
This year marks the 65th edition of the award, with votes cast by members of the German Sports Journalists’ Association. A total of 751 people participated in the voting, including two invalid ballots.
In player voting, Kroos received 285 votes, Florian Wirtz came second with 246 votes, and Granit Xhaka third with 66 votes. In the coaching category, Alonso received 503 votes, Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeneß was second with 74 votes, and FC Heidenheim coach Frank Schmidt was third.
