Today, FIFA updated the Olympic men’s football player list, with changes to the Japan U23 squad, where Gamba Osaka defender Nitta Rio has withdrawn from the squad, replaced by Shonan Bellmare defender Suzuki Kaiin.
According to Japanese media reports, Nitta Rio sustained an injury during training with the national team and, after an assessment by the coaching staff, it was ultimately decided that he would leave the team.
The replacement for Nitta Rio will be defender Suzuki Kaiin, who currently plays for Shonan Bellmare. This season, he has made 16 appearances in the J.League, and he was also named on the standby list for Japan U23 previously.
