On the morning of August 5 (Beijing time), Zhang Yufei won two bronze medals in swimming events. She placed third in the women’s 50m butterfly and, together with her teammates, secured a bronze in the women’s 4x100m medley relay. After the events, Zhang Yufei spoke to the media.
Zhang Yufei said, “I don’t know whether to be happy or not. I’m happy about the number of medals, but they’re all the same color. I really can’t evaluate it—I’m just getting better and better. From the mixed team events to today’s individual men’s and women’s events, the strength of our team spirit is truly remarkable. Seeing them win the championship, I felt a surge of warmth.”
With this, the Chinese swimming team concluded its participation in the Paris Olympics with 2 golds, 3 silvers, and 7 bronzes—a total of 12 medals, the highest medal count in history.
