On July 23, Al-Shabab Riyadh officially announced that Al Ittihad Jeddah forward Hammed has joined the team, with both parties signing a three-year contract.
Notably, the current manager of Al-Shabab Riyadh is Pereira, who once coached Chinese Super League team Shanghai Port. The team also includes former Dalian player and Belgian star Carrasco, and with Hammed’s addition, the team has become a gathering place for former Chinese Super League players.
The 34-year-old Hammed previously played for Chinese Super League team Guangzhou R&F. As a prolific striker, he left a deep impression on Chinese football fans.
In the 2022-23 season, Hammed was crowned the top scorer in the Saudi league with 21 goals and led Al Ittihad Jeddah to the league championship. In the 2023-24 season, Hammed scored 29 goals in 38 games across all competitions, a higher goal-scoring efficiency than the renowned Benzema (13 goals in 29 games).
