According to Spain’s Marca, Barcelona coach Flick has expressed his determination to take the team to the next level in an interview. However, he also indicated that he hopes to sign a player who can help the team win games.
Speaking about coaching Barcelona, Flick said, “When I decided to become a coach, I started paying attention to Barcelona because they play fantastic football. You can see how they develop players, and everyone talks about it.”
Regarding La Masia, the youth academy, he was full of praise: “What I saw in my first training session was incredible. I must thank La Masia for the incredible way they develop players. The level they provide is really very high. Normally, when international or experienced players are not available, you bring in young players, and there is usually some drop in quality, but that hasn’t happened here. It’s really nice to see their progress. I told them, ‘I want every session to have quality, intensity, and focus.’ They delivered 100%.”
Nonetheless, Flick still wants reinforcements for the squad: “We must sign a player who can help the team win, but we also have some young players, and we need to help them improve.”
In terms of tactical philosophy, Flick explained, “We always want to stay active; this is very important, being proactive with the ball and quick without it. We want to guide opponents where we want them to go so that we can regain possession. Sometimes we will press high up, and sometimes we will press more conventionally. When we have the ball, everyone should feel free to do their best.”
