According to TEAMtalk, Rangers and Manchester United are in negotiations over the transfer of young player Hannibal Mejbri, but both teams may need to make concessions for the deal to go through.
Despite interest from Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, and Barcelona, Hannibal joined Manchester United’s youth academy from Monaco in 2019. The midfielder has represented France at U16 and U17 levels before switching allegiance to the Tunisian national team in 2021. His move to Manchester United cost around £4.2 million, with potential add-ons taking the fee up to £8.4 million.
Hannibal spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Birmingham City in the Championship, where he impressed, making 41 appearances for the club. Last season, he made 10 appearances for Manchester United across all competitions but never established himself as a regular in the first team. He was then loaned out to Sevilla in La Liga, where he remained until the latter part of the season. Everton had been keen to bring him to Goodison Park, but those plans did not materialize. After just a few weeks at Sevilla, manager Jorge Sampaoli excluded him from the first team, and he made only six appearances in total.
TEAMtalk reveals that Rangers are looking to sign Hannibal on loan and are willing to include an option to buy in the loan agreement. However, Manchester United prefers a permanent transfer. While talks have been positive, Rangers cannot meet Manchester United’s asking price of £7 million.
