On August 7, in the first round of the women’s 100m hurdles at the Paris Olympics, Chinese athlete Wu Yanni ranked sixth in her heat with a time of 12.97 seconds, qualifying for the repechage.
Although this performance fell short of her personal best (12.74 seconds) and she missed out on direct qualification for the semifinals, Wu Yanni still made history today by becoming the first athlete ever to run the Olympic women’s 100m hurdles in under 13 seconds.
Wu Yanni will compete again in the women’s 100m hurdles repechage on August 8 at 4:35 PM, aiming for another shot at the semifinals.
