Today, former Manchester United, Chelsea, and Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater posted a picture of himself on a construction site via his personal social media, drawing considerable attention.
In addition to posting the photo, Drinkwater captioned it: “On site today.” The photo suggests that he may be working in construction. One fan messaged him privately, saying: “Danny, you’ve fallen this far.” Drinkwater responded: “Mind your own business, do what you need to do. I like this job; it was my own choice.”
Drinkwater once played for several top Premier League clubs and commanded a weekly salary of £120,000 while at Chelsea. However, he only made 23 appearances for the Blues, making his transfer one of the worst in Premier League history. Notably, his transfer fee was £35 million, and prior to joining Chelsea, he helped Leicester City win the league title.
In 2022, Drinkwater moved between several teams but failed to make an impact, eventually leading to his retirement. It remains unclear whether construction work is his current full-time or part-time occupation.
