On July 25, Chengdu Rongcheng released an official statement updating on player Hu Hetao’s injury status. It has been revealed that he was diagnosed with an acute ankle sprain and is expected to recover in three weeks.

During the 20th minute of the 24th round match of the 2024 Chinese Super League, where Chengdu Rongcheng played away against Wuhan Three Towns on July 20, 2024, Hu Hetao was fouled by an opposing player, resulting in a fall that injured his ankle. After immediate medical attention, there was no significant improvement, leading to his substitution. He was initially diagnosed with an acute ankle sprain.
Following recent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) at the hospital, Hu Hetao’s injury assessment is as follows:
1. Injury to the anterior talofibular ligament with partial tear;
2. Injury to the anterior syndesmotic ligament, posterior talofibular ligament, calcaneofibular ligament, and deltoid ligament of the inferior tibiofibular joint;
3. Minimal effusion in the right ankle joint cavity, posterior recess, and subtalar posterior recess, along with swelling of the joint capsule and soft tissues around the lateral malleolus.
In conclusion, Hu Hetao’s estimated treatment and recovery period is around three weeks.
