On August 5, the swimming events of the Paris Olympics came to an end. Notable Chinese swimmer Zhang Yufei claimed six medals in this competition, also concluding her participation in her third Olympic Games. In a post-event interview, Zhang Yufei mentioned that she might take some time off and experience life beyond swimming.
Reflecting on her performance at these Olympics, Zhang Yufei said, “I am proud of myself, but I’m not satisfied with only winning bronze and silver medals. I still dream of winning gold.”
Regarding her plans for the future, Zhang Yufei said, “I want to try a different lifestyle. Perhaps I’ll find a boyfriend, and I also want to go to university and travel.”
When asked if she could possibly participate in her fourth or even fifth Olympics like 31-year-old Swedish veteran Sarah Sjöström, Zhang Yufei replied, “Yes, I’d like to be like her. Maybe after experiencing a different lifestyle, I’ll come back. Who knows?”
