On August 3, Dortmund officially announced the signing of 22-year-old Brazilian full-back Yan Couto from Manchester City on a loan deal with an obligation to buy.
Dortmund will initially sign Yan Couto on a season-long loan, with a mandatory purchase clause to be triggered at the end of the loan period. According to previous reports from multiple sources, the buyout fee for Yan Couto is set at €25 million, plus an additional €5 million in variable terms.
Prior to this, Yan Couto had already participated in today’s team training session wearing the Dortmund jersey. Now that his transfer has been officially confirmed, he will wear the No. 2 shirt for the Yellow and Black next season.
Yan Couto joined Manchester City from the Brazilian club Coritiba in September 2020 and has since been on loan at Girona and Braga. Last season, he made 34 appearances in La Liga for Girona, scoring one goal and providing eight assists, helping the team secure qualification for the Champions League.
