Recently, football analyst Andy Brassell shared his thoughts on the Portuguese national team in an interview. He believes that Cristiano Ronaldo’s time at the top has passed, and Bernardo Silva has taken over as Portugal’s best player.
The expert commented, “Portugal has a wealth of talent, and manager Roberto Martínez has more options. I think Ronaldo needs to understand that sometimes he will start, and sometimes he’ll be on the bench – that’s something he must accept. It’s fascinating because just two or three years ago, such a statement would have been heresy in Portugal. But now people are recognizing that Bernardo Silva is the country’s best player right now.”
Bernardo Silva is the undisputed key player for both his national team and Manchester City. He won a treble with City last season and represented Portugal in major tournaments. In 88 international appearances, he has scored 11 goals for the team.
