According to The Sun, Mauricio Pochettino, who recently left Chelsea, is keen on becoming the new manager of the England national team, pending Gareth Southgate’s departure after the Euros.
It is reported that Manchester United and Bayern Munich both have shown interest in Pochettino. The Argentine coach is eager to return to the dugout soon to prove that his Chelsea tenure’s struggles were largely due to the club’s circumstances.
It is understood that Pochettino is also keeping an eye on international coaching opportunities. If the England job becomes available following this Euro tournament, he would like to be considered for the role.
Southgate had previously stated that he would discuss his future with the Football Association (FA) after the competition, with the FA hoping for an extension until the 2026 World Cup. Initially, it was widely assumed that Southgate would likely stay on, but Pochettino’s interest could introduce uncertainties into the situation.
