In this morning’s Euro final, Spain defeated England 2-1, successfully winning their fourth Euro championship in team history. Earlier this year, Real Madrid also beat Dortmund in the Champions League final to win the Champions League title.
According to statistics, since 2001, Spain’s national team and clubs have won 27 consecutive victories in major tournament finals (losses were all due to domestic La Liga clashes). The last time a Spanish team lost in a major tournament final was back in 2001 in the Champions League final when Valencia lost on penalties to Bayern Munich, finishing as runner-up in the Champions League.
Since then, whether it was Barcelona, Real Madrid, Sevilla, or other clubs in European competitions, or the Spanish national team in major tournaments, they have displayed stunning dominance, never letting the championship slip away once they reached the final.
