According to an official announcement from Valencia CF, the team’s left-back Gaya has suffered an injury to his left quadriceps. It is reported that he is likely to miss eight weeks and will therefore be unavailable for the European Championship.
Gaya sustained the injury during Valencia’s match against Girona last weekend. He had just recovered from an earlier injury and now faces another setback. The injured area is the same as the one he suffered in March.
Valencia FC expressed their support on social media, writing, “Captain, we hope you are stronger than ever.”
Gaya is a Spanish international and missed the 2022 Qatar World Cup due to injury.
In October 2022, Gaya extended his contract with Valencia until June 30, 2027.
