According to The Daily Mail, Marseille is on the brink of signing Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood, a move that has sparked protests from some enraged Marseille supporters. A statement on the French OM forum reads:
“As negotiations for Greenwood’s arrival intensify, it seems necessary once again to explain that such a transfer is unimaginable without considering the club’s values and before irreversible damage is done. For many of us, this is a red line that will inevitably harm our love for the club.”
The hashtag #GreenwoodNotWelcome has been created and shared on X (Twitter) platform, calling on Marseille not to sign the English striker.
Greenwood met with Manchester United officials at Carrington on Monday but did not train with his teammates on the first day of pre-season. All signs point to an imminent departure. He has not played for United since being accused of sexual assault in January 2022. Although the charges were dropped after the complainant withdrew their testimony, Greenwood’s reputation has plummeted ever since.
