On July 12, according to Korean media “Chosun Sports,” Chengdu Rongcheng’s head coach Xu Zhengyuan has complained about the team’s chaotic internal management regarding salaries and is considering a return to coaching in the K League.
The report states that Chengdu Rongcheng is currently facing management issues. The Korean coaching staff led by head coach Xu Zhengyuan, along with personnel responsible for related work, are experiencing difficulties. Due to changes in management at the beginning of this year, an increase in home game ticket prices, and the club’s top brass not adhering to basic rules of running a football club, former assistant coach Kim Dou-hyeon and the Portuguese translator responsible for foreign players have yet to be paid their overdue wages. There are also problems with win bonuses, and the atmosphere in the locker room is not good.
The Korean media outlet notes that Xu Zhengyuan has deep feelings for Chengdu Rongcheng, but the team’s predicament has forced him to worry about his own future. According to a Korean agent, Xu Zhengyuan is considering returning to coach in the K League. He previously managed Suwon Samsung Bluewings from 2012 to 2018.
