In the Euro final, England lost to Spain and missed out on the championship. After the game, England’s manager Southgate announced his resignation. The Football Association has begun searching for a new manager for the national team, and Premier League legend and renowned commentator Jamie Carragher has suggested that the FA should hire Newcastle United’s manager Eddie Howe.
In his personal column for The Daily Telegraph, Carragher stated, “Eddie Howe is an excellent manager. He has performed well at both Bournemouth and Newcastle. His style is attacking football, similar to Southgate’s characteristics. Young players will also listen to his command because he has proven his brilliance.”
“Eddie Howe meets every criteria for the England manager role. However, the biggest question now is whether he is willing to leave his position at Newcastle since his ambition is to lead Newcastle to win trophies, and the fans have already recognized him. Nonetheless, he has previously expressed that managing the England national team is his ultimate goal, so this position is very attractive to him, and he is also smart enough to know how unique this opportunity is.”
Carragher believes that now is the best time for Eddie Howe to leave Newcastle, while Newcastle is hoping to retain him with all their efforts.
