On July 11th, in the EURO semi-final match between the Netherlands and England, Simons scored a stunning goal just 7 minutes into the game, making him the youngest ever player to score in a knockout match for the Dutch EURO team.
The semi-final between the Netherlands and England was highly anticipated. Right from the start, the Dutch team delivered a strong statement when Simons took the ball to the edge of the penalty area and unleashed a powerful shot that beat Pickford’s ten fingers, allowing the Netherlands to take an early lead with a lightning-fast goal.
Simons became the fifth player in Dutch history to score in a EURO semi-final. The other four are Koeman (1988 EURO), Van Basten (1988 EURO), Bergkamp (1992 EURO), and Rijkaard (1992 EURO).
Worth noting is that Simons is currently 21 years and 80 days old, making him the youngest ever player to score in a knockout match for the Netherlands in their EURO campaign.
