According to Spanish outlet Relevo, Real Madrid player David Alaba, who has suffered an ACL tear, will not participate in the Euros as a player; however, he might join the team in a non-playing role.
It is reported that the 31-year-old, despite his inability to take the field, could act as a bridge between the players and the coaching staff. Both Ralf Rangnick and the Austrian Football Association are considering this plan. The squad for the Euros will be announced next week, and Alaba’s exact role may become clearer at that time.
