On July 10th, according to the latest report from Sky Sport Italia, the renowned 48-year-old Italian referee Orlato has confirmed that he will return to Italy along with several assistants. Previously, in an interview, he had stated that he would retire after the conclusion of the Euro Cup. Currently, the most likely candidate to officiate the final is Polish referee Marciniak, who previously took charge of the 2022 Qatar World Cup final.
During this Euro Cup, Orlato and his assistants officiated four matches together, including Serbia vs England, Germany vs Switzerland, Portugal vs Slovenia, and the last quarterfinal match between England and Switzerland, where England ultimately won the game 5-3 on penalties.
In an interview conducted during the Euro Cup qualifying referee meetings, Orlato told Sky Sport that he would retire after the Euro Cup. Of course, the Italian did not hide his dream of officiating the Euro Cup final. With Orlato’s team returning home, the most likely person to take charge of the Euro Cup final has become Pole Marciniak, who stands a chance to become the main referee officiating the finals of the World Cup, Euro Cup, and Champions League.
