On July 15th, in the Euro Cup final, England lost 1-2 to Spain, finishing as runners-up. The Sun reported that an English father and his two sons were fired by their company for insisting on going to watch the Euro Cup final live.
The trio from England consisted of 58-year-old father Alan, his 29-year-old elder son Billy, and his 26-year-old younger son Riley. After England eliminated the Netherlands in the Euro Cup semi-final, the three informed their employer that they would be heading to Berlin to watch the Euro Cup final in person.
Younger son Riley said, “Witnessing England’s bid for the championship with our own eyes is a rare opportunity in a lifetime. For us, there is nothing more important in this world than watching England play. We have gone all-in to attend the Euro Cup final. We spent eight hours refreshing the UEFA website to snatch tickets for the Euro Cup final. Regardless, it was fantastic for our family to experience all this. We spent £3,000 buying the most important tickets of our lives.”
However, the company boss was not sympathetic to their desire to watch the game, sending them emails terminating their employment contracts and stating that the company requires loyal employees.
