On February 23rd, Beijing time, the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) officially announced the renewal of its contract with national team head coach Luis de la Fuente until 2026.
De la Fuente took over the Spanish senior national team in March 2023 and led the side to victory against Croatia, winning the UEFA Nations League in June. He has been coaching various Spanish youth teams since 2013.
The official announcement reads:
The RFEF Management Committee approved, in its meeting on Thursday, the exercise of the renewal clause in the contract of National Coach Luis de la Fuente. This will extend the agreement until 2026, when the next World Cup will be held in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
The Management Committee considers the extension of De la Fuente’s contract necessary for both the national team and the RFEF, providing stability for the team’s preparations for this year’s European Championship.
