The Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad Jeddah has officially announced the departure of their head coach, Gerardo Gallardo.
The 48-year-old Argentine tactician took charge of Al-Ittihad in November 2023 and led the team in 33 matches, securing 15 victories, 4 draws, and 14 defeats. In the previous season’s Saudi Pro League, the team finished in fifth place, missing out on qualification for the new Asian Elite League.
It is reported that the conflict between Gallardo and key player Karim Benzema was the catalyst for his dismissal. Al-Ittihad has already started the process of finding a replacement, with names like former AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli and Fulham’s Marco Silva among the candidates.
