According to French media reports, Choukri, who was initially set to join Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), reneged on his agreement and opted for Borussia Dortmund instead. This turn of events has left PSG’s hierarchy furious, as they had previously convinced Choukri only for the deal to fall through at the eleventh hour.
Choukri, once considered the discarded prince of Lyon, had agreed to join PSG after being swayed by Campos and Enrique. However, Dortmund intervened and showcased their track record in nurturing attacking players, highlighting examples such as Dembélé, Sancho, Haaland, and Bellingham.
Dortmund also offered Choukri the number 10 shirt and assured him that there would be few obstacles in future transfers. After weeks of negotiations with PSG, Choukri ultimately decided in favor of Dortmund over PSG.
Previously, Choukri, with one year remaining on his contract with Lyon, had agreed to a €15 million transfer to PSG. The sudden change of heart at the final stage has left PSG’s management, including Campos and Enrique, seething with anger.
It’s worth mentioning that Dortmund’s offer to Choukri was not superior to PSG’s, and in fact, slightly inferior. This unexpected hijacking of the deal has left PSG’s higher-ups scratching their heads.
