On June 25, according to a report by the foreign media outlet “The Post,” an opinion survey among nearly 140,000 fans revealed that 90% of them think Kai Havertz should be replaced by Niclas Füllkrug in the starting lineup for the knockout stages.
While Havertz scored in the opening 5-1 victory against Scotland, his performances in subsequent matches were less convincing.
In the 1-1 draw against Switzerland, he had six shots but only managed one on target. Following the match, a survey of 13,800 fans by German media showed a widespread desire for Havertz to give way to Füllkrug as a starter in the elimination games, with the latter scoring an equalizer in stoppage time against Switzerland.
German head coach Füllkrug has previously stated, “Füllkrug has a chance to start, but so does Havertz; Füllkrug has played a crucial role as a substitute.”
