With just one year left on his contract, Manchester United has yet to initiate talks for a renewal with Scott McTominay. The Scottish midfielder, who often bailed out Ten Hag last season, could depart this summer, with clubs like Fulham, Newcastle, and West Ham expressing interest.
Limited by their transfer budget, Manchester United aims to sell some players this summer to raise funds for desired signings. As McTominay’s contract is in its final year, his transfer fee wouldn’t be excessively high.
Last season, McTominay made 32 appearances for United, starting 18 times, and scored 7 goals, often saving the day for Ten Hag. In March, there were rumors that United was considering a new deal, but no negotiations materialized.
Fulham is currently the most interested club in McTominay. If he moves there, he would reunite with former teammate Pereira. However, besides Fulham, Newcastle, West Ham, and Southampton are also keen on the player.
Should Manchester United indeed let McTominay go, the Scottish midfielder won’t be short of suitors. For Ten Hag, parting ways with McTominay, who frequently salvaged crucial moments, could lead to discontent among fans.
