The Liverpool Echo reports that the club could face a scenario of losing Salah, Van Dijk, and Alexander-Arnold for free if new deals are not agreed upon soon.
With June 30th behind us, Thiago, Matip, and Adrian are no longer Liverpool players. Now, Salah, Van Dijk, and Alexander-Arnold enter the final year of their current contracts with the Reds. Consequently, unless extended, they could depart on free transfers in 12 months’ time. Naturally, Liverpool aim to prevent this situation. Following Slot’s appointment as Klopp’s successor and key backroom changes, the club hierarchy is keen to accelerate negotiations over new deals for the trio.
It’s reported that Real Madrid is monitoring Alexander-Arnold’s situation, while Salah and Van Dijk have attracted interest from Saudi Arabian clubs. If agreements aren’t reached promptly, come January 1, 2025, they would be free to sign pre-contract agreements with other clubs.
The Liverpool Echo understands that talks have at least started with Van Dijk, and Slot might engage in further conversations with Alexander-Arnold and Salah in the coming weeks to gauge their intentions for the future.
