Not yet 17, Yamal has been one of the most captivating players in this edition of the Euros. He was already the youngest player to feature in the tournament and, in the group stage match against Croatia, became the youngest player in Euro history to register an assist.
In the 1/8 final encounter between Spain and Georgia, with Spain trailing 1-0, they mounted a comeback with two consecutive goals. In the 51st minute, Yamal delivered a cross that led to a header goal by Ruiz, putting Spain ahead 2-1.
With his performance in this game, Yamal not only set the record for the youngest player ever to play in a Euro knockout match but also established the record for the youngest player to assist in such a contest in the history of the tournament.
