July 1st – Championship promotion winners Ipswich Town have officially announced the signing of 20-year-old Chelsea striker Hutchinson on a permanent basis. The deal is set to run until 2029.
It’s reported that the transfer fee will amount to £22 million, with no buy-back clause expected but a 25% sell-on clause included.
Last season, the young Chelsea forward joined then-Championship side Ipswich Town on loan, making 50 appearances across all competitions, scoring 11 goals and providing 5 assists. He played a crucial role in helping Ipswich secure promotion to the Premier League.
It’s understood that this transfer breaks Ipswich Town’s club record transfer fee, previously held since 2001 when they signed Matteo Sereni from Sampdoria for £4.75 million.
According to reports, Hutchinson’s former club Arsenal will also benefit financially from this move due to a clause in his transfer to Chelsea two years ago.
