Belgium’s midfielder Kevin De Bruyne recently addressed fan criticism in an interview with Belgian media RTBF.
The Belgian national team had an underwhelming group stage performance, securing only one win, one draw, and one loss, falling short of expectations for the Red Devils. Following the matches, several Belgian fans expressed their dissatisfaction with boos. De Bruyne was also seen refusing to participate in the post-match lap of honor after the game against Ukraine, though he was eventually convinced by his teammates to return.
In his RTBF interview, De Bruyne spoke frankly: “We just have to play our games. I think we gave everything in the three matches, but we didn’t win. Such things happen, and I can understand some frustration.”
“We make decisions during the game, and they might think they know better, that it wasn’t the best choice. But these are the decisions we made. If they have an issue, they should come and do the job themselves, play football.”
