PRAYA – PT Angkasa Pura I Lombok International Airport in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) has stated that passenger movements at the airport have reached 6,000 to 7,000 per day, including those traveling to and from the Mandalika MotoGP event.
“Before the Mandalika MotoGP, the average daily passenger movement at Lombok Airport is around 6,000 to 7,000,” said Arif Hariyanto, the Public Relations of PT Angkasa Pura I Lombok Airport, to ANTARA News on Tuesday, October 10th.
He mentioned that the increase in passenger numbers at Lombok Airport is indeed not significant.
However, a noticeable surge in passengers is expected during the MotoGP race scheduled for October 13-15, 2023.
“The increase usually occurs on H-1 of the race and H+1, or October 16th, 2023,” he added.
During the Mandalika MotoGP event, Lombok International Airport will adjust its operating hours to 24 hours, up from the current 14 hours, effective from October 13th to 16th, 2023, he stated.
Arif also mentioned that so far, four airlines have proposed an additional 44 domestic flights to and from Lombok Airport during the 2023 MotoGP period.
“Garuda Indonesia has submitted 26 flights, Citilink 8 flights, Super Air Jet 4 flights, and AirAsia 6 flights for the period between October 10th and 17th, 2023,” he informed.
All logistics for Dorna Sports and the Mandalika MotoGP racers have arrived at the Mandalika Circuit, having been transported via Lombok Airport and the sea route through Lembar Port.
In addition, some MotoGP, Moto2, and Moto3 riders have already arrived at Lombok Airport and are set to participate in practice sessions at the Mandalika Circuit on Friday, October 13th.
