On June 8th, the 2024 FIM MiniGP China Round officially started accepting registrations. The event is organized by the China Automobile and Motorcycle Sports Federation (CAMF), co-organized by the Guangdong Automobile and Motorcycle Sports Federation, and hosted and promoted by Guangzhou LingSai Sports Development Co., Ltd. This marks the first time this competition for children and teenagers will be held domestically.
The FIM MiniGP China Round is part of the FIM MiniGP World Series, which was established in 2021. The basic operational model involves FIM member federations (with CAMF representing China) hosting at least ten rounds (at least five events with two races per event) per season. Riders who accumulate high annual points in their respective regions qualify for the annual World Final, held in Spain in early November.
Despite its short history, the FIM MiniGP World Series has quickly grown in popularity, with more countries/regions participating and continually breaking records for the number of entrants. It has become a competitive platform for the world’s most talented young riders in the two-wheeled road racing discipline.
The 2024 Season’s World Final is scheduled for November 10-12 in Valencia, Spain. According to the rules, in the first year a country/region hosts the event, only the top two riders with a maximum of 160 annual points are eligible to participate in the World Final.
The FIM MiniGP China Round has received support from several brands, including Benkia (safety gear brand), Hit-Air (safety equipment/vest brand), and Pirelli (tyre brand). The provisional calendar features five rounds to be held at the Conghua International Circuit in Guangzhou:
- 1st Round (China Qualifier), July 6-7
- 2nd Round (China Qualifier), July 20-21
- 3rd Round (China Qualifier), August 2-3
- 4th Round (China Qualifier), August 10-11
- 5th Round (China Round), tentatively September 21-22
Nota Bene: Points will be awarded for all five rounds.
