Jakarta – Johann Zarco didn’t take long to find a new home after parting ways with Pramac Ducati. The French MotoGP rider has officially joined LCR Honda.
Zarco will reinforce Honda’s satellite team, signing a two-year contract starting from 2024, replacing Alex Rins, who will join Yamaha next season.
LCR Honda Team Principal Lucio Cecchinello highlighted Zarco’s experience and performance as the main factors in their consideration. Additionally, Zarco has a history with Honda, having served as a substitute rider in 2019. According to Cecchinello, Zarco’s commitment and hard work align with the team’s values.
“We are very happy to welcome Johann to the LCR Honda Castrol team, with all the details and signatures sorted. This is Johann’s return to the team after our brief time together in 2019, and we could already see his potential and work ethic back then,” said Cecchinello, as quoted by Antara.
“There are still many races and work to do this season, but we are looking forward to starting this new project in 2024,” he added.
The former Tech3 rider has claimed 12 podium finishes since joining the team in 2021. These include four podiums in 2021, four in 2022, and another four so far in the current season.
“Next year, I will face new challenges. But for now, I want to end this championship in the best way possible,” Zarco said upon announcing his departure from Pramac.
“I would like to thank my entire Ducati team and everyone who has worked with me over the years,” he concluded.
