Jakarta – The reason behind Marc Marquez’s shift to the satellite Ducati team, Gracie, remains a question mark. The top MotoGP rider’s decision to leave Honda Factory Racing raises questions about what motivated the move, which brought him wealth and glory.
Marquez clarified that he wasn’t lured by an extravagant offer from Gracie. Although he didn’t disclose specifics, he acknowledged that the financial terms at Gracie were not as lucrative as those with Honda. “Money is certainly significant, but it wasn’t the driving factor,” Marquez said, as quoted by DAZN. “I was at a crucial juncture and needed immediate change, changes that would reignite my competitiveness and open up possibilities for another seven MotoGP championships,” he added.
At 31, Marquez’s proximity to participating in MotoGP is not distant. He still has ambitions to claim the podium, and Honda’s constraints left his dreams unfulfilled. Accounting for his long-term injuries, Marquez felt he had to act swiftly to achieve his aspirations. All eyes are on the Spaniard, whose greatness is anticipated at the American MotoGP series’ season opener at COTA (Circuit of the Americas) in Austin, Texas, on April 14th.
