NTB – The West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police (Polda NTB) have arrested the Head of the Central Lombok District Tourism Promotion Board, referred to as IW, in connection with a case involving the embezzlement of a four-wheeled vehicle or car.
The Chief of the Public Relations Division of the NTB Polda’s Non-Tariff Barriers Region Police, Police Commissioner Artanto, confirmed that IW was detained by the NTB Polda’s Criminal Investigation Unit (Ditreskrimum) over allegations of corruption.
“Yes, the person of interest was detained at the NTB Police Detention Center due to alleged embezzlement of a car,” Artanto said on Wednesday, October 19th, in Mataram, NTB.
He stated that the NTB regional police have designated IW as a suspect based on the results of their investigation. IW is also being held for further inquiries.
“Based on the case results, IW has been named a suspect under Article 372 of the Criminal Code regarding embezzlement,” he said.
In this case, the suspect IW allegedly embezzled the vehicle by borrowing it from a victim named Urus with the intention of selling it after successfully obtaining it. The specifics of the number and whereabouts of the vehicles are not currently being monitored, as the investigation is still ongoing, Artanto mentioned.
It is revealed that the head of the Central Lombok BPPD was not only involved in the corruption case but also in a fraud case related to the sale of MotoGP tickets in 2022.
Regarding the alleged fraud case, Artanto confirmed that the investigators have transferred IW’s case file to the prosecution for further study.
“So, for the MotoGP ticket sales fraud case, the investigators are still waiting for the prosecutor’s examination results,” Artanto said.
