“At that point, a one-stop was effective, but we lost significant time in two laps. That’s what cost us the race. We were on lap 19 or 20, and to go for a single stop, we needed to stretch it to lap 23. After Verstappen’s pit stop, we only needed four more laps for a one-stop. He was 20 seconds behind, but then his tires gave out, closing the window for us,” Wolf explained.
Continuing, he said, “Russell’s window wasn’t ideal either, it was frustrating. Everything just seemed to be against us. He had a tough battle with Ricciardo.”
