Following last week’s US Open, the DP World Tour returns to Europe for the penultimate European event of the season – the Dutch Open. The tournament will take place on June 20th (Beijing Time) at the International Golf Club Amsterdam. A field of 156 players will compete for a share of the $2 million purse.
Old Friends, New Look
The course for this event is the 6,914-yard International Golf Club Amsterdam. In 2019, it became the eighth different venue to host the Dutch Open since its inception on the European Tour in 1972. This year, the 11th hole has been shortened to a 127-yard par-3, reducing the course par to 71 compared to 2019.
Defending Champion
Spanish golfer Pablo Larrazábal claimed victory in last year’s Dutch Open, securing his win with three birdies in the final four holes of the final round. With nine DP World Tour titles to his name, Larrazábal returns to the Netherlands to defend his title.
Larrazábal has also had an impressive season so far. He finished 13th at the recent European Open in Hamburg and secured a tied-fourth place at the Dubai Desert Classic earlier this year with a score of -10.
Chinese Players
With the release of the Paris Olympics men’s golf rankings, Li Hao Tong and Wu Ashun have confirmed their non-participation. Both players competed in last year’s Dutch Open and are back at the International Golf Club this time around.
Wu Ashun recently delivered his best performance of the season at the Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed, finishing in 25th place with a total of -9. This result lifted his position in the Race to Dubai rankings, where he now stands at 92nd.
In contrast, Li Hao Tong’s form has been more inconsistent, failing to make the cut at both the Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed and the European Open.
