KRAFTON has announced the application of PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS’ 29.1 update to its live servers.
This update incorporates the “terrain destruction” feature, as mentioned in PUBG’s 2024 roadmap, into the Runic map. Now, during battles in areas with inadequate cover, players can create shelters and open new attack routes by destroying the terrain. Players can utilize newly added pickaxes on the Runic map, along with certain throwable weapons and vehicle explosions, to cause destruction up to a depth of 1.3 meters. To enable strategic gameplay and diverse tactics, PUBG will continue to develop and expand environmental destruction features, including terrain destruction.
To enhance the gaming experience, PUBG has optimized the Runic map comprehensively. Adjustments have been made to the Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) zones that disrupt most electronic devices, slightly reducing their occurrence and eliminating them after Phase 2. The Emergency Cover Signal Grenade has also seen a modification, summoning two emergency covers instead of three upon use. Furthermore, challenges within the game and various elements of the Runic map’s terrain, objects, and environment have been optimized.
The update also brings a collaboration with Italian high-end motorcycle brand Ducati. Players will have the opportunity to experience various items, including special vehicle skins from Ducati, within PUBG. By collecting “Upgrade Packs” and “Supply Crate Packs,” players can earn “Ducati Tokens” to acquire the special “Panigale V4 S” motorcycle skin. These packs will be available for PC users from April 9 to May 8, 8 AM (Beijing Time).
Runic map is now playable in competitive matches. Starting from Season 29, it will be included in the competitive mode with a 10% match rate. Season 28 rewards will also be distributed. Players will receive different reward lists based on their final rankings, which include badges, medals, and nameplates. Those reaching or surpassing the Gold tier will earn a “Parachute Skin.” Except for permanently retained parachute skins and medals, other rewards are exclusive to the competitive season and will be automatically reclaimed at the end of the season or during server maintenance.
In addition, PUBG has implemented several other updates, such as balance adjustments for weapons like the SCAR-L, AKM, and the Rocket Launcher, improved AI mobility and behavior patterns, added proficiency medals, and launched the new “Survival Pass: Chromatic Chaos.”
