On April 19, the AIG Global Animation and Gaming Ecosystem Salon (Chengdu leg) was held at Sichuan Media University. With the theme “Games, Traditional Culture, and Future Technology,” the salon gathered industry experts and business representatives to discuss the preservation and innovative development of traditional culture through games and animation.
Wang Pinglu, Secretary-General of the Southwest Base of Tencent Research Institute, delivered a speech titled “Inheritance and Innovative Development of Chinese Traditional Culture and Elements in Games, Animation, Esports, and Related Fields.” He delved into how traditional cultural elements are reinterpreted and recreated in modern games and animation, emphasizing the significance of combining traditional culture with contemporary game and anime styles.
Qian Zhe, head of the gaming division at Lu Master, analyzed the Chinese elements and martial arts design in “Kung Fu Panda,” shedding light on the development potential of the anime and gaming esports industry.
Peng Qiuchen, Brand Director of Sichuan Tourism Investment Group’s Manhua World Tourism Development Co., Ltd., shared insights on how to promote the transmission and inheritance of traditional culture among young people and monetize its commercial value. He proposed methods such as exploring the essence of traditional culture, innovating expression methods, diversifying communication channels, and enhancing self-innovation capabilities to facilitate the integration of traditional culture with anime and games. Over a hundred students also engaged in interactive discussions with the guests on-site, creating a lively atmosphere.
Since the successful launch of the AIG Global Animation and Gaming Expo in 2023, it has attracted widespread attention. It is reported that the second AIG Global Animation, Game, and Digital Interactive Entertainment Industry Expo will open in Chengdu in November 2024. The event will continue to lead with traditional culture, focusing on the global layout and high-quality development of the animation, gaming, and esports industries.
