Cameroonian-French super middleweight contender Christian Mbilli (27-0, 23 KOs) recently told the media that he intends to score a knockout against former three-time world title challenger Serhiy Dereyshenko (15-5, 10 KOs) in their August 17 bout.
Said Christian Mbilli, “Dereyshenko is an excellent fighter with a wealth of experience. He’s had many amateur fights and has faced multiple world champions as a professional. I will strive for a KO against him; at the very least, I’m confident I can defeat him.”
The 29-year-old Mbilli, currently unbeaten in 27 contests with 23 of those wins coming by way of knockout, ranks third on the BoxRec super middleweight rankings. Standing at 1.74 meters tall with a reach of 1.83 meters, Mbilli has already secured two consecutive victories this year.
If Canelo Álvarez (61-2-2, 39 KOs) relinquishes his WBC super middleweight championship belt, the WBC might order a fight between David Benavidez (29-0, 24 KOs) and Mbilli for the vacant title.
