Recently, current WBC lightweight champion and three-division world champion, American Shakur Stevenson (21-0, 10 KOs), told the media that despite Vasiliy Lomachenko (18-3, 12 KOs) being older, his skills still make him a formidable opponent for Gervonta Davis (30-0, 28 KOs).
Stevenson said, “With Lomachenko’s exceptional skills and abilities, it’s still an intriguing matchup. I don’t think Lomachenko is an outdated opponent for Davis, even though he’s a bit older. Lomachenko has experience, and it’s about whether he can withstand Davis’s power punches.”
Davis and Lomachenko are currently in negotiations for a showdown that could take place in November. Lomachenko recently won an 11th-round TKO against George Kambosos Jr. (21-3, 10 KOs) in May, capturing the IBF lightweight world title. From that performance, it seemed that Lomachenko was in good form.
