Recently, Oleksandr Usyk’s promoter, Alexander Krassyuk, told the media that the current WBC/WBA Super/IBF/WBO heavyweight champion (22-0, 14 KOs) did not sustain a fractured jaw in his fight against Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs), but rather experienced damage to a dental implant.
Krassyuk stated, “Talk about Usyk having a broken jaw is baseless. I mentioned at the post-fight press conference that there was no issue with Usyk’s jaw, just damage to a dental implant. He has already had several treatment sessions and is currently in the process of recovery.”
The highly anticipated rematch between the 37-year-old Usyk and Tyson Fury is tentatively scheduled for December 21st in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This time, Usyk is expected to earn a 50% purse split, which would be the highest payday of his career so far. In their first encounter, Usyk took home $45 million, the most he has ever earned, while Fury received $105 million.
