Recently, former three-division world champion Shane Mosley (49-10-1, 41 KOs) advised Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) to focus on Oleksandr Usyk’s (22-0, 14 KOs) midsection in their upcoming rematch, as it is perceived to be a weakness for the Ukrainian.
Shane Mosley said, “Usyk doesn’t like body shots, so we need to hit him there more. Those body punches seem to hurt Usyk, and Fury can set it up with a jab followed by a right hand to Usyk’s abdomen. It’s crucial to land above the beltline, otherwise it would be ruled a foul. Usyk doesn’t like body work, so you’ve got to exploit that area.”
In their first fight on May 18, Fury did land some body shots on Usyk, but focusing solely on the body often left his head defense exposed, which Usyk eventually took advantage of.
